We hope everyone's first week of school is going well. Yesterday was 小年夜, did you all have dumplings? The Chinese New Year is approaching and we hope you all had a wonderful holiday with your family and friends. Today, iCare is here to continue to explain the coverage of Vanderbilt Student Insurance (SHIP) and the amount of coverage.

How is the surgery covered?
There are two main categories of surgery: out-patient (patients who do not need to be hospitalized) and in-patient (patients who are hospitalized). In either case, the fees for surgery can be divided into two categories: facility fees and physician fees (i.e., treatment fees). In the case of in-patients, the facility fee refers to the cost of hospitalization, including hospital rooms, while the facility fee for non-in-patients refers to the cost of operating the surgery center and medical equipment.

Both procedures are covered at the same rate, but there is an out-of-network "penalty" of $500 if the patient is admitted to an out-of-network hospital without prior authorization. Both charges are covered at 10% for designated in-network medical centers, 20% for non-designated in-network medical centers, and 40% for out-of-network medical centers.
What if I need psychological treatment?

Psychotherapy and drug dependency treatment are also divided into inpatient services and outpatient services. Inpatient treatment is covered at the same rate as surgery, with 10% at designated in-network centers, 20% at non-designated in-network centers, and 40% at out-of-network centers. There is also a $500 "penalty" for being admitted to an out-of-network hospital without prior authorization.
For ambulatory care, if the treatment is with a psychiatrist, there is a $25 co-payment per treatment (similar to a registration fee), and coverage is effective immediately with or without a full deductible, as long as the in-network clinic is located. For other services, the benefit rate is 10% at designated in-network centers, 20% at non-designated in-network centers, and 40% at out-of-network centers (regardless of service). For inpatient care, the benefit rate is also 10% at designated in-network centers, 20% at non-designated in-network centers, and 40% at out-of-network centers.
What if I am pregnant?
Pregnancy-related consultations at in-network centers are completely free of charge, while consultations at out-of-network centers are covered at a rate of 40%. Delivery services and facilities are covered at 10% at designated in-network centers, 20% at non-designated in-network centers, and 40% at out-of-network centers. Covered services include ultrasound, etc.
